Gold Nugget Atlantic City Cheat Scandal

Players win more than USD 1.5 million, turns out they kept winning because the card stacks were not shuffled beforehand.

Among the most recent gambling blunders is the story of Gold Nugget in Atlantic City. At a game of mini-baccarat, the same series of cards kept coming up and soon, the players’ bets went from USD 10 to USD 5,000 real fast.

According to the website New Jersey the fourteen gamblers won more than USD 1.5 million and by the time the last game was over, they were encircled by casino security. They were accused of cheating at the game, although nobody managed to say how or why.

The improbable wins kept going for 41 games. Gold Nugget not only sued the players, but also wants to fight the card manufacturer in court. Benjamin Dash, lawyer of the 14 players stated, The Golden Nugget appealed to gamblers to come in and play games licensed and sanctioned by the state of New Jersey.”

He added, “My clients did exactly that, and then were denied their winnings. There is absolutely no law in New Jersey that would permit the Golden Nugget to declare the game illegal because it failed to provide shuffled cards.” But, the Casino is trying to win back the lost money precisely with this claim.
